Samantha Nemiroff Jewellery
Short Description
We create one-off jewellery from found objects. Since all materials have been recycled, and there are no manufacturing processes, our jewellery is environmentally friendly, and ethical. But the aesthetic element is foremost.
The design artist is Samantha Nemiroff, who lives in Ottawa. In 2008, she was the only jewellery designer chosen by The National Post for their annual "40 Under 40" article, featuring the best Canadian designers under 40 years of age. In the Fall of the same year, Samantha's work was featured in the "Emerging Artists" space by the Canadian National Exhibition.
One of Samantha's necklaces was worn in the Kelly Clarkson MTV music video "Behind Those Hazel Eyes." and the Toronto rocker Tara Slone of "JoyDrop" wore another on the CBS television show "RockStar:InXS."
Her jewellery has also been featured in Canadian Televisions shows such as "Canada's Next Top Model," and "Celebrity Look-A-Like."
Samantha's most recent appearance in the fashion press was in the April 2009 "Special Anniversary Edition" of Nylon Magazine (p.70).
Samantha titles and themes her pieces, often ironically, perhaps the only contemporary jewellery designer to do so. Influenced by a number of literary and Fine Art movements, as well as contemporary urban street fashion, Samantha likes to play with these ideas in often startling juxtapositions, in her words "deconstructing the Lady and the Skull."
