'Thinker' by Innocent Chifutu

Story

Innocent Chifutu (pictured) is a Shona artist from Mhondoro, Zimbabwe. He gathers the red soapstone he uses to carve from the grounds of his farm.

Thinker is 43 cm (17 inches) in height and weighs 15 lbs. [One of a Kind piece]

Innocent carved this piece and named it the ‘Thinker’. He explained that in his art he tries to reflect the mood of the people of Zimbabwe. ‘These years have been cause for a lot of thinking’ he said speaking of the unrest and strife in his home country.

Shona Sculpture is an art form that has won great acclaim worldwide.
