babyburrito is taking great strides in becoming as environmentally friendly as possible. By launching our new babyburrito organics line we hope to offer more and more choices that are both sustainable and ecological. All our left-over fabric is given to local designers who further use it in their eco-friendly creations.

We use a rich bamboo blend in our creations for obvious reasons. Ethically, bamboo holds the world record for the fastest growing plant. It can grow up to a metre or more a day. It needs no replanting, pesticides or fertilizers, and its roots retain water in the watershed, sustaining riverbanks and reducing water pollution.

Not only is bamboo sustainable but it also gives back to the environment. The fibers of the bamboo plant that are used are naturally porous, so they absorb moisture and wick it away from the skin, keeping you cooler and drier than synthetics or just plain 100% cotton.

Bamboo trees absorb five times the amount of greenhouse gases and produce on average 35% more oxygen than the same amount of trees. Bamboo is 100% biodegradable, unlike the majority of petroleum based products.

Furthermore, bamboo is naturally antibacterial which inhibit body odour, to an extent of course. It is also highly temperature regulating, to keep wearer 1-2 degrees cooler in warm temperatures and warmer in cooler temperatures. It also naturally protects against harmful UV rays and is hypoallergenic, even after many washes

From a purely aesthetic standpoint, bamboo has a beautiful lustre and is very soft to the hand, similar to cashmere and silk. The more you wash it, the softer it gets.

These are some of the reasons why we use bamboo and by doing so encourage bamboo growth. We hope our products will find loving homes and be cuddled, snuggled and passed on.

Machine wash, dryer on low setting, or lie flat to dry.
